Maritime Chambers was established in 1984 by Francis Daly, Graham Houston and Matt Pope. The chambers derived its name from Maritime House on Abbott Street in which the chambers were first located. At that time the Courthouse was also in Abbott Street. Former members of Maritime Chambers include the first and second District Court Judges appointed from the Cairns Bar, retired Judges Francis Daly and Peter White.
